Rachel Kandel, Ph.d.
Dr. Rachel Kandel is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Manhattan. She obtained her B.A. in psychology and cultural anthropology at the University of Michigan, and her doctorate in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. After completing her clinical internship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Rachel spent a year as a postdoctoral fellow at The Learning Center of the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services. She continued on as a staff psychologist at the Manhattan Learning Center for several years before starting a private practice.
Rachel specializes in conducting neuropsychological and educational assessments for children, adolescents and young adults with a wide range of conditions that impact learning, including attention difficulties, learning disabilities and emotional vulnerabilities. She has worked with students in a remedial manner as well, focusing primarily on organization and executive functioning skills. Rachel served as an associate professor at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx where she supervised psychology interns and externs in neuropsychological test administration and interpretation. She also served on the board of an independent school in New Jersey.
